Engines
We鈥檒l teach you the tools of the trade, then immediately put them to use pulling apart and reassembling a diesel engine. Throughout the course, you鈥檒l get familiar with troubleshooting and diagnosing; performing tune-ups on all major diesel engine brands; adjusting and running heavy-duty engines; and navigating brand-specific websites.

Engine Management Systems
We鈥檒l set codes on the engine you鈥檙e working on; it鈥檒l be your job to tell us what鈥檚 wrong, utilizing manufacturers’ step-by-step diagnosis process that includes the use of websites for CAT, Cummins, and Detroit. Additionally, you鈥檒l go through the process of understanding the concept of multiplexing and CAN Bus in regen, and explore the latest technology for diesel management from the engine to diagnostics.
- Learn the basics of electrical theory
- Practice troubleshooting using scan tools, multimeters, and other equipment and industry tools
- Understand the basics to circuits, starting and charging systems, multiplexing, and more
Powertrains
This phase is where we鈥檒l lay your foundation in antilock brake systems and automatic traction control systems. We start with differentials, then move through hubs, kingpins, and steering. During the course, you鈥檒l get to pull, inspect, and measure tolerances on clutches; pull and inspect single- and double-gear reduction differentials; work on and adjust brakes; and work on computer-controlled manual transmissions.

Fluid, Power, & Refrigeration
In this course, we will go over the basic understanding of hydraulics and hydraulics safety. We will cover hydrostatic drive transmissions, skid steer loaders, and repair and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems. You will learn correct use of flow meters and pressure gauges to diagnose hydraulic and hydrostatic systems. Also covered in this area are the operation, testing and servicing of in-cab air conditioning and transport refrigeration. This phase offers the opportunity to get a 608 and 609 EPA certification for HVAC service and repair.

- Learn to rebuild hydraulic pumps and cylinders
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair in-cab air conditioning and transport refrigeration systems
Specialty Program
Most Diesel students choose Advanced Diesel, Chassis Fabrication, Applied Service Management or High Performance Powertrains, all of which are designed to complement the skills you鈥檝e learned in the Diesel Technology program and help you stand out to employers in the industry.

Is it hard to learn diesel mechanics?
Taking the Diesel Technology program at 爱神传媒 makes learning diesel mechanics/technology manageable. We focus on teaching with more hands-on work than only books and homework. Studies are very important, but getting greased up and working in the shop is what will prepare you for real-world experiences.
How long does it take to become a diesel technician?
Our Diesel Technology degree program takes 6 months to complete. To graduate with your diploma, it takes a total of 9 months since a 3-month course in one of our specialty programs is necessary to complete. Other diesel technology courses take a minimum of 1 year to complete and be job-ready鈥搕hen there鈥檚 the job searching after you graduate.
